  • Chapter Awards - Fall Initiative - Chapter Night Out - Joint Conference

    Good afternoon Chapter Members:

It's a beautiful New England afternoon as I write this and I hope you are all enjoying the summer. There are just a few things I would like to talk about. First and foremost, as always our thoughts and prayers are with the Texas Chapter and the citizens of Dallas and most recently again in France.

As I write this your Executive Board is busily preparing for the Orlando conference - our President Elect, Christina has done an outstanding job facilitating the Chapter Night Out which begins shortly after our business meeting on Monday. You will be receiving (and have already received) information from her regarding the venue (BB Kings) and the menu (so many choices - such outstanding meals), but you MUST pre-register with her to ensure your entry into the venue. Christina will be sending out another blast email for those who many not have made up their minds just yet with the details. We do have a cut off date/time as the venue needs to get a head count, no walk-ins can be accommodated, so please RSVP if you have not done so already to Christina.

The Atlantic Chapter Awards and Fall Initiative applications are now OPEN. This year both are being done on line and can be found by going to the About Us tab. Take advantage of the Initiative and nominate someone for out Chapter awards (which will automatically be forwarded by the Awards Committee to International for consideration next year). This is YOUR time to shine and be recognized for the work that you do everyday. Take advantage of the Initiative for future training or events. Deadline information for both are included within the links.

The 2016 Conference Committee is in full swing and moving forward with the Joint NY State 9-1-1 Coordinators/Atlantic Chapter Conference in Albany NY this October - information can be found in the Conference tab above. Please take advantage of the pre-conference course "Bullying in the Workplace" which is being offered at a reduced rate. All registrations are done on CVENT, but you must register separately for the class. The call for papers are still open - we have such wonderful talent in this Chapter, please consider putting in for a session, if you have questions don't hesitate to contact any member of the Conference Committee or Board. We encourage your participation and you will be warmly welcomed at the sessions.

As we approach the October conference elections for the Board will be open. Please consider running for a position on the Board, yes we do ask for a time commitment, at a minimum there is one conference call a month for the term and you may be asked to work on a special project or event. The experience and the fulfillment you receive by being on the Board is priceless and it opens up new worlds for you. If you are hesitant or unsure, please call one of us we will tell you exactly what you need to know, it is a rewarding experience.

As you know we are celebrating our 50th Anniversary as a Chapter in October and we have many wonderful surprises in store for you, as we get closer we will be letting you in on some of the events. The Committee is working on a special PowerPoint presentation of the past 50 years and we would love and appreciate any photographs that you can send us that can be used. Pictures of past conferences - pictures of YOU and your Centers and how it has changed over the years, and any pictures of our Past Presidents whom we want to honor as well as honoring you. Anything you send will be put used in the presentation, and it will again be apart of our Chapters history.

I look forward to August in Orlando and seeing as many of you who can make it there, the conference is packed with outstanding presentations and workshops that many of us will be part of, and as always the Atlantic Chapter will be well represented. We will all meet again in October for another outstanding conference. Until then, stay safe and train well!
